Not Covered |
The EyeMed plan covers many, but not all, types of eyewear and services.
To confirm whether a product or service is covered, you may contact
EyeMed at 1-866-723-0514.
Following are examples of some vision products and services that are
not covered:
- Orthoptic or vision training; subnormal vision aids, and any associated
supplemental testing
- Medical and/or surgical treatment of the eye, eyes, or supporting
structures
- Corrective eyewear required by an employer as a condition of employment
and safety eyewear unless specifically covered under the Plan
- Services provided as a result of any Worker's Compensation law
- Plano non-prescription lenses and non-prescription sunglasses (except
for the 20% discount)
- Two pair of glasses in lieu of bifocals
Coordination with the Health Care Flexible
Spending Account
If you have elected to participate in a Health
Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA), vision expenses
not covered by EyeMed may be reimbursable through the FSA. A Health
Care FSA gives you a tax break on eligible vision expenses that are
not covered by the EyeMed plan-frames, lenses or contact lenses outside
of the covered choices, replacement contact lenses and solutions and
services provided by non-participating doctors.
